Fears for missing woman, 26, who spent five years in jail for murdering her friend's boyfriend before she was cleared at retrial. She was cleared because she apparently had a mental disorder. Strange that a conviction can be overturned like that.

Convictions regularly get over turned, it's not uncommon, just usually not published in news. As new evidence comes that is substantial to the case, a conviction is appealed, over turned, and then depending on the circumstances either a new trial or a change in sentence is ordered.

I don't particularly understand the comments in that article. Usually dailymail is pretty good for calling out gender hypocrisy but they're all supporting her. She was convicted because it didn't look like self defense but 5 years later she got off because of claimed mental problems at the time, or whatever. So she murdered someone in an apparent non-self-defense fashion because she was in an altered mental state. No way around that based on what the article says yet they are still defending her. Am I missing something?
