If only there were more balanced articles like this on Buzzfeed

Don't get too excited.

She claims to have read Lolita twice and, if in the unlikely event that is actually true, the whole of the first two paragraphs marks this woman down as a wooden-eyed cretin.

And not only that, but this:

This is what art does, what literature and cinema and television do, when they depict the abhorrent. They normalise.

Anyone who gives even the remotest shit about freedom of expression should be deeply alarmed at the casual idiocy here - she is demanding control over expression here, even if this isn't even the main point of her article.

Just like Lolita, Pehredaar Piya Ki endorses and normalises the inherently repugnant.

I do not know this show Pehredaar Piya Ki, but I do know Lolita and I know that this woman is a fuckmunch.

If "Pehredaar Piya Ki" glamorizes the relationship as harmless, it's actually not comparable to "Lolita" but far worse

To be honest, I would go further - Lolita is probably one of the most stunning portraits of pure evil ever written.

It's no accident that he's called Humbert Humbert - I don't think it's too fanciful to say that this shows him to be a narcissist who sees only himself in everything and who considers himself a an innocent victim of circumstance despite his being a murderer and a child rapist.

Like I say, I haven't seen this Pehredaar Piya Ki, but reading between her lines I can't help wondering whether or not she would find ways of saying pretty much the same thing about Disney's Freaky Friday, or any of those body swap comedies like Big with Tom Hanks in it.

Given the 'Buzzfeed' eye on the world, it would be easy to paint those movies as perversions and insults to morality - the Robert Loggia character as a pedo uncle and ... oh, ha ha ha ha - too fucking late!

In searching for an image of Elizabeth Perkins from the movie, I hit on this:

WHY THE MOVIE ‘BIG’ IS THE CREEPIEST STORY EVER TOLD - And you thought it was a family film.

It's not entirely serious, but tone aside it makes pretty much the same point as Buzzfeed seems to be doing:

That’s right, a grown, adult woman is making out with what is actually a child. How is this OK? [ ... ] Josh tries to explain to Susan that he is a child and that she is now a sex offender, but she doesn’t want to hear it.
