Most white people are just European mutts who can't trace their lineage any better than blacks with slave ancestors either. I had to use 23&me DNA testing to even get a clue since I only had one grandparent to go on, and it just proved I'm a Northern European mutt from a handful of countries. No one culture to call my own. So, just regular white identity/pride/etc it is.

But if that's ok then what is wrong with people that say the same thing about being European? Is there a cut off point of a certain geographical sized area or an area that is currently marked off as a specific country? Celts and Gauls spanned a large area that is now broken up into separate countries same with Slavs, Nordics, Germanics etc. all of which are European people (whites). What about whites of mixed European heritage in the diasporas? Can't they claim their mixed heritage? It's funny how liberal SJW types will always talk about how a mixed race person of say half black and half white heritage can claim both (and i'm sure a black person with parents from two different Africans countries would be cool too) but if it's a white person and they just use the blanket term "white" then oh my god racist, nazi, inbred, hillbilly, bigot! Isn't it just easier and more convenient sometimes to just talk about whites as a whole than to have to specify every time every individual European or colonial country that is currently recognized as an official country?
