Let me get this straight. Dad was in jail and Mom was a cokehead. The baby was adopted, and Dad didn't pay any child support. And yet he thinks he is due custody of the girl.

And this argument is being made in the same subreddit that believes that men shouldn't have to do any parenting or provide any parental support if they wish not to.

I was wondering when the hypocrisy was going to make itself obvious.

If shitty mothers can retain their children, we should be advocating for the same for shitty fathers. Biology trumps everything.

It's hardly so cut and dry. There are two different narratives. In one, dad did almost nothing to fulfill the role of dad AND was represented at the termination hearing.

In the other, dad was railroaded by a system who didn't feel his consent was required for adoption.

Frankly, I'm in the side of the child. If she's forcefully given to dad, it will be traumatizing to her. In my mind, the ideal solution would be to award dad visitation rights.

There's value to your position, but I feel it would be wrong to 100% extrapolate to apply to this case.

Better title: "Child at risk of being forcibly separated from parents, biological sibling and birthmother and sent to another state to live with a convicted criminal who is a complete stranger to her."

I read some of the filings in this case, and I think the parents are going to win at the state Supreme Court level. There is a mountain of evidence that this guy meets the legal criteria for TPR. But this is what can happen when adoptions aren't carried out with utmost attention to detail.
