Speaking for myself only, what I find most interesting about this is how a number of the publications who expressed outrage and indignation over Trump's June 2015 inflammatory comments on undocumented Latino migrants entering the US via Mexico here ...:

When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

... seem, as far as I can see at least, to have no issue with the suggestion that sexual violence, assault and harassment against women are at epidemic proportions on Mexico's underground metro system. In fact, they seem eager to actively confirm just how much of a problem sexual violence and harassment are against women in Mexico City as in this from The New York Times (March 31, 2017 ‘Penis Seat’ Causes Double Takes on Mexico City Subway)

According to a national survey done in 2016 by the Mexican Institute of Women, Inmujeres, nine out of 10 women or girls who use public transportation feel unsafe while doing it. A wide-ranging Reuters survey done in 2014 also showed that the Mexico City transport system is the second-most dangerous for women overall out of 15 world capitals. However, Mexico City was squarely in first place for specific questions like “have your been verbally harassed?” or “have you been groped?“

In 2014, UK polling company YouGov conducted a survey about harassment on public transportation worldwide. For verbal and physical harassment, Mexico City's metro was voted the worst.

New research revealed that 65% of women in Mexico City have been sexually harassed on the city’s buses or trains.

I am no fan of Trump and I am certainly not defending his comments - but I am critical of the press and this just seems to be one more example of the kind of cognitive dissonance they are capable of.

The New York Times seems particularly guilty here - they seem quite happy to cite the Mexican Institute of Women's figure that "nine out of 10 women or girls who use public transportation feel unsafe" yet this is the same publication who said in an editorial, 'Why Donald Trump Should Not Be President' (September 25, 2016):

When Donald Trump began his improbable run for president 15 months ago, he offered his wealth and television celebrity as credentials, then slyly added a twist of fearmongering about Mexican “rapists” flooding across the Southern border.

From that moment of combustion, it became clear that Mr. Trump’s views were matters of dangerous impulse and cynical pandering rather than thoughtful politics.

So if The New York Times can label Trump's comments as a "dangerous impulse and cynical pandering", then why would it not be legitimately possible to make the same claim about the penis seat?

If we agree that it is unacceptable to mischaracterise the majority of undocumented migrants entering the US as "people that have lots of problems" such as drugs, crime, and rapists, then why should it not be just as unacceptable to mischaracterise the majority of men for the actions of a small and criminal proportion of them?

If they are showing men's buttocks in real time that is blatant sexual harassment at a public level. If they are showing pics of random men's butts then they could have two awareness campaigns at once by having them clad in very tight spandex.

Honestly, I'm fine with this. Nobody wins from a bunch of pictures of ugly asses plastered everywhere so the salt that will flow over this in the intermediate term will be hilarious.

Anyone willing to bet on how long it takes a feminist to claim this project is sexist against women once they realise men don't even care?

All they're doing is reinforcing the idea that men are so worthless, you can even turn them into a chair, and you'll get praise for doing so.
