Men who have been a victim of domestic abuse, how difficult was it to seek help and how seriously were you taken once you did?

I'm currently a student in my final year at University and as part of my dissertation, I have decided to focus on the topic of domestic abuse amongst male victims. Through my research, i have realized there is a huge empathy gap and still, a complete lack of equality on the subject. I was wondering if anyone who has experienced or has viewed the issue firsthand in the past would be comfortable sharing their experiences and stories with me to further my understanding of this issue.
