What's the deal with social media? TRP seems to have divided opinions

Social media is overblown. I maintain an FB page (only) to keep track of old friends and so that 21 year old girls can show up, see it, find out that I'm a cool guy with a good sense of humor, a lot of friends and who fronts his own band, etc.

And that's it. Don't let that shit suck up all your time, use it ONLY if it benefits you, etc.

Anyone here who says that social media is used as social proof, to build SMV, etc. is a bullshitter.

Social media only benefits a man if he has high SMV and status. If you don't have both you can't use social media as social proof and an SMV builder. Basically unless you are in the Top 1% of 1% of men, it will be either a net negative or at best neutral for you. So its not worth the risk. If you are a man where social media can be a net positive for you, you don't need TRP since you should already be drowning in female attention and have many female options.

Social media is for orbiters and losers.

If you're interesting and good looking you should be taking advantage of Social media.

Facebook is a dead zone, Instagram and Snapchat are the proving grounds. Post pictures and videos of you engaging in your fun/interesting hobbies. Women will come to you.

It has to do mostly with age.

When I was younger social media was pretty big. It means less when you are older.

I'm 28 btw. I quit mine while I was in an LTR a few years back and after I got out of it never really felt like starting it up again since it isn't necessary and my jobs since then involved being in constant contact with clients. So when I go out I don't want to be on my damn phone all the time.
