When my son was born 2.5 years ago, I had to convince my wife that circumcision was a bad idea. She had never considered the idea of not circumcising and it took a lot of discussions before she was comfortable with leaving him intact.

Nearly every single female she asked (besides medical professionals) were pro-circumcision. The reasons were always about their personal preference. They believe it's their right to decide how a penis should look and they are willing to subject their son's to an unnecessary medical procedure to obtain the look they desire.

My mom just assumed we were getting him circumcised and asked how the procedure went. When I told her our decision to leave him intact, she went ballistic. she started screaming at me, telling me how selfish and disgusting I was, insulting me and my wife's decision, insulting our son's intact penis, she would never change his diaper because she never wanted to see his disgusting penis.

She would not listen to anything I had to say, just kept screaming at me and then hung up because she was so upset. This took place on the day my son was born, while we were in the hospital, still recovering from giving birth.
