Hello everyone. I have been asked to give a talk about the topic of masculinity and mental health for a university. My plan is to make the talk "discussion based" and engage the attendees in what I hope will be an informative and thought provoking discussion. More specifically the topic is gender in relation to mental health and emotional well being.
My idea is to open with a brief introduction about the portrayal of masculinity over time, and the growth of masculinity as a marketing tool. Then introduce the pros and cons of masculinity as well as modern challenges and ways to overcome them.
I want to be very careful about how I go about this because although I want to make this pro men's health, I want to avoid making this a gender conflict discussion.
I have a few questions for the users of this sub:
-If you were attending this kind of talk, what topics specifically would you want covered?
-What are some major points about masculinity that you think I should address?
-Is there anything you think I should avoid discussing?
-General questions/comments?
