My parents are divorced, and both of them maligned and slagged each other, post divorce.

When my Mom died, the portion of my father's pension she won in the divorce was willed to we kids, and the three boys opted to sign it back over to Dad. We didn't work for it, we certainly didn't earn it, we didn't need it, and even if Mom wanted us to have it, Dad deserved it more than we did.

My professional sister whose family income puts her in the top 0.5% of all Canadians? She kept it, and has been collecting a monthly off our Dad, ever since. He's quasi joked that he'll leave her out of his will in response, to even out the end result as best he can.

Don't underestimate the sisterhood effect. Even basic humanity can sometimes be subordinated to keeping faith with "the team".

My daughters are unlikely going to be MRA allies. With sole custody, my ex is free to brainwash them. I'm just the asshole sperm donor who needs to send more money. All of their problems would vanish if dad would just send more money. Maybe someday, when they're older, they will get the bigger picture. But don't hold your breath.

You haven't met my sister. Divorced parents? Yes. Father kept away? Yes. And she turned into one very extreme, very active, very outspoken, anti-male, gender feminist radical.

Our home was a cesspool of victim hood, entitlement, and man bashing. Without a father figure or male role model there was nothing to counter the hate. And now? now she's a bitter, twice divorced, crazy feminist cat lady.

They sound like the exception to the rule. Perhaps it has more to do with their age and a changing culture, because most daughters with separated parents are brainwashed by the mother to hate and blame the father and men generally.

I hope you thank them for standing with men. I don't think women really understands how much something like that means to us.
