If this isn't the place to put this, please message me and let me know where I can go.

I'm trying to help my fiance regain his parental rights, and things have snowballed to the point where we are both lost, baffled, and disillusioned. Any advice would be extremely helpful.

I'll be as brief as I can while conveying the details. We know the son is in an unsafe environment. There are multiple CPS cases against mom and her new boyfriend for beating the child. These cases come from school teachers, the daycare, and the hospital. There are multiple sheriff reports of the same. We have both heard the son say that he is given "owies" my moms boyfriend. When my fiance asked, she replied that the son was overacting and that her boyfriend "didn't leave that many marks this time." The moment the situation came to light, we immediately went to CPS and the sheriffs. This is when we found out about the multiple cases against her already. Dad filed for emergency protection and was denied. This all because the mom had filed a stay away order, preventing the dad from having any unsupervised visits or any contact with his son unless she agrees upon it. Having never been served the papers, he had no idea what was going on. He brought up the fact that he was never served to both the court and sheriff, and they both claim there's nothing they can do.

So now the mom is recanting on everything she's said, and refuses to agree to any terms in mediation. She is going so far as to couch the son, and tells him that he "can't see daddy because [he] talked to people at school". So now he is afraid to say anything.

The commissioner overseeing the case has said that if they can't agree, he will make a ruling. The problem is that mom is saying up and down that the son isn't safe with dad, but she has so many abuse cases against her the commissioner has threatened to pull the son into foster care.

We are so lost about navigating the legal system. The commissioner is not listening to anything we try to say. We've waiting weeks for CPS report copies, and nothing. We can't get any sheriff report copies without court approval because it involves a child.

We can't afford a lawyer, despite our best efforts to raise money.

If anyone has any advice that could help, please.
