Typically hetrosexual women want material comfort and physical security from their mates.

When he’s older, I don’t want him to feel he has to have abs like The Body Coach or a bank account like Bill Gates to matter, or feel unable to tell his friends when he’s sad.

He doesn't really want these things - he just understands that those things are valued by women (physical strength shows his ability to provide security and money shows his ability to provide material comfort) and by getting those things his prospects of attracting a quality mate are significantly increased.

Expressing his emotions in general will put him in conflict with his ability to show to potential mates that he'll be good at providing security. Expressing his emotions to his male friends exposes him to being on the losing end of male competition (his friend is better able to prove his ability to provide security) or impairs his friend's ability too (his emoting is a burden and makes his friend guilty by association).

Until hetrosexual women stop placing value on material comfort and physical security her nephew is doomed unless he's gay but then he'll be the on the losing end of hetrosexual male competition as they use him to illustrate their security prowess.
