Rakehell/rake, Franion ("an habitual pleasure seeker or merrymaker" - Hees a franke franion, a merrie companion, and loues a wench well, they say he has married a poore widdow because shees faire.), Lounge lizard, Beau-nasty (“A slovenly fop” - Though the barbers’ apprentices had not adopted the same practice at that time, Lake could not help thinking that his cousin looked more like a beau-nasty than like a gentleman.), Cad, Libertine, Blackguard, Lothario.

There isn't much ill-repute in these words any more.

Under the prevailing Hefnerian morality, it's a life well lived to be a rake, a franion (I only heard of that word five minutes ago, and I'm already putting it into a sentence), a lounge lizard, a libertine, or a Lothario.

Concepts like cad and blackguard (and I'd add heel to that list) are missing from our mental toolkit. For example, a lot of the unpleasant sexual experiences that college aged women have is because of caddishness - the young men behave dishonorably, and the young women feel used and hurt.. With no category available for identifying cads and heels as such, they're either armchair-psychologized as narcissists or sociopaths, or they're criminalized as abusers or rapists.

I think I am going to have to use the term 'caddish feminism'.
