Tired example, but still true: the Beeb shot The Week the Women Went, about some Canadian hamlet living without women for a week.

A rather uneventful week, except the ludicrous hoops the men were made to jump through.

They never shot a male equivalent.

Because one day would be bloody dangerous. One full week would be near irrecoverable, in terms of damages to the infrastructure and, possibly, crime. Week 2 gives you the first epidemics. Except in winter, but then you have people dying from exposure.

This world is built and maintained by men, because women have consistently declined the opportunity, offered since 3 generations now, to take part in its less savoury yet necessary aspects.
