Iceland’s women leave work at 2:38pm to protest wage gap with men: – 30 percent earlier than the end of the standard nine-to-five work day – to symbolize .. Ironically symbolizing fewer hours worked by women as compared to men is the major reason for the pay gap.

Yes, I chuckled at that same thought when I saw this event reported.

I hope their employers dock their pay and thereby further increase the earnings gap. If that happens often enough, they might eventually figure it out...

Because they're so arrogant unfortunately I think they'll probably just claim discrimination and it's proof that their employers hate them because they're women.

Pay women the same as men, but give them the same hours, same priorities, and same amount of breaks, etc

And another big one is the same level of risk. Currently the vast majority of workplace injuries and deaths are suffered by men. Part of the reason men make more money overall is that women take fewer jobs that entail physical risks.

Coincidentally, I only just this week found out about the 1975 Icelandic women's strike which was apparently over 'wage discrepancy and unfair employment practices.' and was wondering if there was any truth behind the claims without having yet dedicated any time to research.

Yet, actual wage discrimination – paying women less for doing the same job – has been illegal in Iceland since the middle of the 20th century.

This suggests at least the wage discrimination claim may have been without any foundation.

2. What is the /r/MensRights perspective on the wage gap?

Using these methods it means the Army pays male captains more than female captains, even though the military pay by rank and not hours worked.

What's interesting about this article is this little bit.

Thousands of Icelandic women gathered in Reykjavik’s main square to demonstrate against wage inequality, despite the country topping international gender equality rankings.

If a news organisation like Russia Today isn't playing along with the feminist wage gap bullshit there's something going on, because it's incredibly rare to see any mainstream news organisation debunk the wage gap especially so bluntly, or is it that the wage gap only exists in countries that have a right leaning government and mysteriously 'corrects' itself when a left wing government feminists like gets in charge?

It's actually not "the major reason." It's one of many reasons.

I wish all Icelandic men just stopped working altogether and see how well society will function. Just sit back, drink some beer and enjoy the suffering
