Funny. I have hardly ever Seen a video, where a woman does not resist arrest.

[–]jonnyd005 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Probably because those would be boring and pointless videos to watch.

True

Oh wow I no idea you could just be walking down the street and get arrested! Quit your crocodile tears lady, you messed up and you're in the wrong

Just another fucking idiot who can't handle following simple instructions from a police officer. People need to grow up.

[–]Zerwas 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bitch you were drunk and did not comply/resisted arrest.

Take fucking responsibility. I also love how the commenting officer just stating the obvious. And she still tries to gain sympathy by shedding out some tears...

She can't even leave her house for fear that a police officer will arrest her, detain her or throw her to the ground.... welcome to being a black man in America.

Did you forget the /s? Or are you just that dumb?

I have a hard time seeing the PPD in this one. Sure the people being detained in the video are women, but at no point did I notice any of them trying to apply their gender to recieve different treatment.

It might be a cultural difference due to me being danish. But, what I took away from this video more than any PPD, was how absurd it is that stepping out of your vehicle during a routine trafficstop can result in this. I know it's a safety precaution in the US, but from the perspective of a dane it's pretty damn over the top.

being a white and living in the U.S i can tell you it's not an overreaction by the police. most of their fatalities come from these types of traffic stops. whenever i get pulled over i put my hands on the wheel up high so they can see them until they get to my window and ask for my ID. This shows the cop that i respect his job and the risks he takes. in the U.S this is very important....don't step out of your vehicle until you are asked to. if you don't like cops think of it like this. A man with a gun and power, with other friends that also have guns and power tell you to do something you do it. we have courts to settle it out later

Oh, I understand the reasoning behind it in the US. I guess I'm just kinda sad that it's neccessary to take those precautions as a standard approach.
In denmark, atleast for the most part, it's completely opposite. Police will assume that everyone is reasonable untill proven otherwise. In the US it appears as if everyone is unreasonable/dangerous untill proven otherwise.
It's just kinda depressing...

If you exit your vehicle being confrontational with the cop that paints you as irrational, no?

[–]iBendUover 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Just some points:

  • none of us have much information available.

  • there's obviously an element of cultural differences, since what's common police practice in the US appear quite unnecesarily confrontational/physical to the average danish guy.

  • I Don't understand why it's neccesary for the people to be ordered back in their car, unless they were causing trouble before that. In the video the chronology of the events were described as if the people weren't causing trouble untill they were ordered back in their car. If they weren't a threat or causing trouble, then why try to dictate where they should be?

  • I still fail to see the genuine PPD in this video. If you replace the women with men nothing about the video would change much. Sure, a man might not be crying om camera, but crying after a rough experience doesnt automatically equate to an attempted PP. It actually might speak more about some absurd machismo ideal demanding that men should never cry.

  • Theres alot of great PPD's out there. This just doesnt come across as one to me.

Like four of your points addressed something totally unrelated to what I said.

[–]iBendUover 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I noticed afterwards. My mind tend to drag me along sometimes. Sry mate!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's not depressing, it's logical. In Denmark Guns aren't nearly as common as the USA. Cops aren't shot at on the norm in denmark. In the USA the cops need to proceed with caution because lots of people have guns and lots of cops get shot. Soooo proceed with caution and simply comply with the law and you'll be fine. No biggie.

"In the USA the cops need to proceed with caution because lots of people have guns and lots of cops get shot."

This isn't depressing? I guess we'll have to agree to disagree...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Give people guns, they do stupid shit, give people a car and they do stupid shit. People are stupid. Not depressing just life.

[–]Vaiist 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think the PPD is the fact that she's crying and acting like the big mean police are just going to tackle her into a bush for no reason. It's trying to inspire sympathy and she's playing up the innocent, delicate little flower angle.

[–]iBendUover 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But how do we know if she's trying to inspire sympathy, or just had a shitty experience that upon recollection makes her emotional?

Sure, I'm somewhat playing devils advocate here, but I do think we need to be somewhat critical of what we accept as true PDD, to avoid watering down the concept.

Edit: Yay, Danish word corrections...

[–]Vaiist 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough, I see your point. I think a lot of us have just seen this used as a tactic when someone is being unreasonable so it tends to register as a PP.
