This is a case-in-point of the smug, snarky, holier-than-thou condescending arrogance of American Progressives in particular. They operate on "symbols" and "feelings" and "gestures," not facts, reason, or logic.

Michael Phelps, is objectively, the greatest swimmer of this generation, and probably the greatest American swimmer. There is a valid argument that he is one of the greatest Olympians of modern Olympics, which is a pretty exclusive club (Karelin, Lewis, Latynina, Johnson). Meanwhile, Ibtihaj Muhammad's medal count? Goose egg.

We even forgave that youthful indiscretion of being photographed smoking from a water pipe of the type that is often used for smoking marijuana. And we have forgiven those other youthful indiscretions (even the one that happened two years ago when you weren't that youthful).

What a slimebag cunt. This is why I live by the maxim that you should never apologize to people incapable of forgiveness. Because assholes like W. Kamau Bell will use whatever faults or failings you confess to put you on your knees and never let you get back to your feet.

Gonna play a tiny bit of devil's advocate and say that I do agree that it would indeed be cool if that female muslim fencer had been voted to be the flag-bearer.

However, Bell is still completely full of shit. There was absolutely no merit whatsoever to his "we already have enough successful white guys" or whatever the fuck it was that he says. If thats how he truly felt, shouldn't he also be asking the NBA mvps to step aside and give their awards to a white player. Phelps earned that honor by being arguably the greatest olympian of all time, and he earned it entirely though his own hard work, not due to any "privilege" of being born a white male. Bell can go fuck himself.
