Short backstory:
- Made a baby
- Got married
- Enlisted in the Air Force
- About a year in found the wife was cheated. Asked for a divorce, she didn't fight it
- Didn't really fight for custody as my career requires me to deeply often, and for six months at a time. (Not really a good life for a child)
- It's now 5 years later, and I'm coming up on the end of my enlistment.
- For the past five years I've maintained skyping and visited my kid in person ≈ 30 days per year (as much as the AF allows)
I'm looking to end my military career, move back to my hometown and be an active part of my daughter's life again. I understand there will be some hurdles to get there, but I want to get to a point where we get to spend 50% of her time together.
I know the ex isn't very keen on the idea. And I kind of understand why. This will be literally uprooting how she's lived the last 5 years.
Can anyone offer any general advice for the situation?
Side note: A couple things I don't need -
"Lawyer up, bro" I know, I've already been on contract with legal representation. Thanks though.
"Women are stupid horrible creatures, I feel ya" this doesn't help me at all.
