Ontario: same-sex parenting law delayed to ensure they can still force men to pay for single moms' kids

I do not really know the state of Ontario law regarding men who are the genetic fathers, but who never wanted to, or are not actually parenting their genetic offspring.

As it was explained on TVO (sorry no link), the proposed law seeks to shift the emphasis on genetic ties toward social family ties, so that same-sex couples are recognized as parents.

However, the government is dragging its feet because it thinks that this means that genetic fathers will not longer be able to be forced to pay for the kids of single mothers.

In my view, that's not a defect... that's a feature.

Maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps someone can shed more light on this.

These people are all for "parental equality" when talking about LGBT parents, but somehow when talking about heterosexual males it all goes out the window.
