You asked for examples from 2016, but I'm going to give you an example from 2015.

The murder of Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh.

On July 3 2015 the news came that he had been stabbed to death overnight, most likely by his son.

That evening there was an episode of the ABC show "The Drum." The show featured one female panellist and two male panellists.

The female panellist expressed her hope that the way that Phil Walsh had been murdered overnight, allegedly by his son, would lead to a larger discussion about domestic violence in Australia, and how it affects women.

She also expressed her hope that this larger discussion of domestic violence against women would also include a discussion of the sexist slurs used against women, like the use of words like "bitch" and "slut."

So, to reiterate, overnight a prominent Australian sporting coach had been stabbed to death, most likely by his son. And this woman thought that it was an appropriate time to complain about nasty words being aimed at women.

I recall sitting in front of my TV, my jaw dropped into my lap.

A guy gets killed (allegedly) by his son, and somehow women are the primary victims of this tragedy? Seriously, WTF?

The two male panellists just nodded like she was imparting sage wisdom. And to be honest, I don't blame them. Either of them saying "da fuq? How the hell does a man getting killed by his son have anything whatsoever to do with violence against women?" and arguing against the feminist victim narrative would probably have resulted in the end of their careers.

The solipsism of that woman was truly amazing. Less than 24 hours after this mans death she was trying to use it for political purposes while feigning to care.

tl;dr Men getting killed by other men is proof that women are oppressed.
