One of our big gripes with the current state of things is that an abusive woman can call the police and say her male partner raped/abused her. The police will believe her and the man will get arrested and put through the meat grinder of the anti-male court system, ruining his life in the process. We know it, they know it, and they often use it as a weapon to keep their victims in line. "If you don't do X, I'll tell the cops you hit me!" What many of us probably don't know is that this is actually illegal...if you live in CA, at least. Under CA Penal Code Section 519,

Fear, such as will constitute extortion, may be induced by a threat...To accuse the individual threatened, or a relative of his or her, or a member of his or her family, of a crime.

So there you have it. It's not a perfect defense, of course--you'd have to have a recording of her making the threat, there's always the possibility of the pussy pass, and she could just skip making the threat and call the cops right off the bat--but it is a defense. After all, we have to work with what we have (for now) until we can get the laws changed. As far as I know, this is only for California, but some other states might have similar laws. It's definitely worth investigating.
