I'm confused...The most feminist, major media outlet in Canada....The Toronto Star, laments there are not enough female writers on their own staff.....then admit 50% of paper’s opinion pages are female writers. Is the goal a perfect 50/50 split of employment by gender?

Ontario, Tuesday. Now legal for men to absolve themselves from parental role prior to impregnating a woman by signing a pre-sex waiver. Bill 28 "All Families are Equal Act", passed today, makes this legal as of Jan 1, 2017.

No, the goal is 50+% of everything. Feminists want women to have at least everything a man has; they don't really care all that much about making sure men have everything women have. That's not really on their list of concerns.

As they were shouting in the seventies...

Nothing LESS than equality for women and nothing MORE than equality for men.

It goes back far farther than the 70's. It's tied to the one-dimensional lens by which feminism has always looked at gender relations, which ultimately has its roots in the women's suffrage movement. It is emphatically not surprising that feminists today are loathe to acknowledge male suffering and discrimination—it induces cognitive dissonance.

I'm speaking from my own direct experience. Prior to the seventies there was little in the way of feminism in my country and I was too young to be aware anyway.

No prob. I've only been alive since the 80's, and I grew up in America, being ignorant of most of this shit. It's a well-spun tale, to be sure.

Caveat. 50+% of everything good. No call for equality among Coal Miners.

what's trully disturbing though, is the writer states they (staff at the paper) analyzed 1,400 media articles to research this supposed problem......wtf? who does this, how long would that take? The Canadian Media...advocacy journalism at it's finest.
