It sounds great on paper, but what does any of the stuff they are writing about have to do with manhood?

It sounds like they are describing all-male classes teaching boys how to empower themselves and to succeed.

Hopefully, that's all this program is about. I can also hope that instructors are not throwing a lot of chivalrous white knighting bullcrap in with that. Or else, they will easily be spotted as liars.

Imagine the outrage if the NY Times wrote an article titled "courses in womanhood."

As someone that isn't American (outsider) I believe that a lot of the problems they have are caused by the intersection of culture and economic/social systems. The way the economic system works everywhere creates poverty, and sure individuals can work hard to get out of it, but on the whole fewer afro-americans in poverty would just mean someone else will be poor.

The problem with the charter schools is that they self select the audience. If you can't tolerate for instance wearing a suit and tie then obviously you're not going to attend.
