I'll believe the pass was denied when I see the plaintiff win his case. More likely the Obama EEOC will rule against him because he's a man.

my employer, an organisation which has about 60000 employees on its payroll globally, has special training programmes designed to give women a push when it comes to promotions. they have special HR tracks that favours women in these actions. why? because statistics show that there are "fewer women in senior positions when compared to a global average".

now, the whole women-choice thing apart, one of the senior colleagues in my team is seeking a regional role. she has seniority over me and, to be wholly frank, she does give a lot more time to the organisation than I do.

the funny part is that anyone applying to the fast track women programme has to submit a document stating their career objectives and why they feel they are a good fit to the programme. my colleague is not really gifted when it comes to articulating thoughts - and her hiring process has ensured that she doesn't have anyone in her team that's different to her in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

so she reaches out to me and asks me to help her fill in this document which will give her a leg up when the senior management decides whom to promote: her or me. which I find hilarious as one would think communication is the one aspect one should conquer when traversing from middle- to senior-management.

anyway, as I said, she definitely is more deserving than I am of this probable promotion. I am also in the process of switching teams myself. so I just helped her out.
