This is ridiculous gender blind politically correct bullshit, women simply aren't suited for war and all experience and studies have shown they only distract men from carrying out their mission.

Women will not be allowed to serve on the front line because military commanders believe it might stop soldiers following orders in the heat of battle, the Government announced yesterday.

Officials said that women might not react in the same way as men in the heat of battle. Their presence might make the men act differently, either by defending women who were shouted at by commanders or by refusing to leave them if so ordered.

There could also be problems with attitudes towards the opposite sex, which could reduce the effectiveness of a fighting group.

The decision was welcomed by Admiral Sir Michael Boyce, Chief of the Defence Staff, who said that allowing women into front-line combat roles would be an "irresponsible experiment".

During the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, he wrote, his unit went more than a month without showering and then was lined up naked to be pressure-washed.

Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, a Marine combat veteran who served two tours in Iraq and a third in Afghanistan, said that the question was whether the change would “actually make our military better at operating in combat and killing the enemy.”

“What needs to be explained is how this decision, when all is said and done, increases combat effectiveness rather than being a move done for political purposes,”

I can't get behind this idea. I'm all for equality, but this is extreme. I wonder how many of the men that support this push have actually served in the military on a battlefield. How many of those men have daughters? The idea of the draft is solely for defense of the nation, not to fill the ranks in wars of aggression. Does anyone remember that day in highschool when most of the guys were turning 18 and we all had to sign that form and get an ID number assigned to us? While all the girls just sat there looking at us and not a single one of us fully understood what it meant. The military has been happy to take our sons and send them off to some desert to die for reasons that aren't clear and now they want to take our daughters too. If a girl volunteers, more power to her if she can handle it, but don't let old men far away take your daughters and send them to kill and be killed.
