Some of the arguments I've seen:

general removal of recess/physical play makes it harder for boys to get out that energy and focus on class, discourages boys from learning by doing
test taking and standardized testing has been lessened in favor of writing assignments/non-test assignments which favor girls
the vast majority of school teachers are women who favor girls in the classroom, sometimes explicitly (boys can play with legos when hell freezes over, boys in trouble for "gun" play, lack of due process rights in college) and sometimes implicitly (girls getting higher marks for being girls, teachers wanting boys to behave as girls or associating good behavior with feminine behavior)

As for the college part at the end, you'll have to clarify what you mean as I'm having a hard time understanding.
