I think it's funny. Not because of the abuse, actually that part adds nothing to the joke. They should have just paint her as offended instead.

I laughed...

if you can't see the humor just because of the gender roles or implied violence then you might need to take a step back a bit.

even if you do want to focus on the genders, at least it's a woman being a dumbass for once instead of a man.

it's not even really about the gender roles as much as the setup for the joke. you pretty much have to have a man, and an incredibly dense woman or else it doesn't work. if it was 2 gay men then why would one care about someone named Amber? it could possibly work with 2 women but that might make it a little less obvious to some people.

In any case, seeing the humor does not mean we endorse the actions. it's like claiming we live in a rape culture because someone says they "raped" someone in a video game. it's not literal. nobody involved is "pro rape". nobody is advocating for real rape. no rapists are being let go because "it was only rape" (unless they are women of course... cause, you know, patriarchy).

we are quickly approaching a point where I fear people may start demanding disclaimers like "no men were harmed in the making of this graphic".

check out those early Flintstones episodes. Wilma was always beating/threatening to beat the crap out of Fred. Actually, she used to commit emotional abuse way back before it was even a thing!
