Weird how they failed to mention the tweets where she called someone 'white trash' or her speech where she said it was impossible to be racist to white people. Perhaps they didnt fit the narrative they are trying to write of "lol she was just being ironic guys!"

Nice try Slate.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure the reddit threats to "rape her in the cunt with a chainsaw" were just ironic! Amirite Slate?

[–]AllOfTheEggs 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

they are arguing that she was 'just being ironic' whilst leaving out things that she said that are harder to explain. I fail to see what some disgusting threats made against her on reddit have to do with that

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am agreeing with you man, chill. You'll notice I was addressing Slate magazine.

[–]AllOfTheEggs 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

oh right, lol sorry.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wow yeah those tweets and messages threatening her were offensive!

Guess what though? They aren't diversity officers at public places of education utilizing official communication channels to spread their hate speech.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My comment is obviously not clear. I am criticising Slate's pussypass to the diversity officer for her hate speech while holding up reddit hatred as real.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh yeah, I just misunderstood.

New rule, if the term Cis is uttered, the one who said it gets punched.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I second the motion. I don't know what cis means...I don't want to know.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

Did you fail chemistry? A cis molecule has a double bond and two "arms" (of some length) in the same directions, like \=/

(imagine that the ends of the lines are connected to the middle of the = sign)

a trans molecule has a double bond and two "arms" in different directions, like \=\

This can affect the molecules properties, despite having the same atomical building blocks.

Fun fact: Our eyes are totally dependent on cis-trans molecules. Photons hit special cis-molecules in our eyes and makes them go to their trans state. This reaction is what's makes the signals to our brains telling us "hey, there's light!", and millions of these signals makes us see.

Now, just because you said you don't want to know I won't tell you what it means in the sexual context, and will let you research that on your own. Just note that "trans" and "cis" are not a made up words by SJW to shame people.

[–]herduleikmudkipz 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, the CIS is the separatist movement from Star Wars.

[–]superharek 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Also an organisation of some Ex-Soviet countries

Commonwealth of Independent States:

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS; Russian: Содружество Независимых Государств, СНГ, tr. Sodruzhestvo Nezavisimykh Gosudarstv, SNG; also called the Russian Commonwealth) [(https://en.wikipedia.org//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Independent_States#endnote_a) is a regional organisation whose participating countries are former Soviet Republics, formed during the breakup of the Soviet Union.

The CIS is a loose association of states. Although the CIS has few supranational powers, it is aimed at being more than a purely symbolic organisation, nominally possessing coordinating powers in the realm of trade, finance, lawmaking, and security. It has also promoted cooperation on cross-border crime prevention. However, eight of the nine CIS members states form the CIS Free Trade Area, and five of these form the Eurasian Economic Union, a customs union and common market of over 180 million people. In addition, six member states participate in a mutual defence alliance: the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[+]Muffinizer1 -8 points-7 points-6 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Its... not a joke. cis means not trans. So cisgender means not transgender. Its not that hard to grasp, nor is it offensive or even stupid.

[–]USOutpost31Captain Kidfucker 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It is the usual university hat trick where you try to define things from the fringe. Cisgender has no meaning. Transgender people, who have every right to exist and express themselves as I do, and who I will defend, are the fringe.

'Cisgender' is an attempt to re-define 'gender' which is already re-defined to support people. As always, policitally correct support turned into hatespeech turned into widespread resentment and no real social change.

So, in effect, it is either a joke or a grievous offensive form of hate-speech.

I'm choosing joke and to laugh at anyone that says it. Otherwise we have to go down that road where people using it need to modify their hate-speech and perhaps be sanctioned in civil proceedings.

[–]Muffinizer1 -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's just like the words gay and straight. Just because straight is the overwhelming majority doesn't mean there can't be a word describing the condition of being not gay, aka straight. Its true, nearly all people are cis. That's the norm. Creating the word cisgender doesn't change that, it just describes the condition of not being trans. There is no redefinition of gender, and I don't understand how describing not trans people as cis is hate speech. I don't understand how it's remotely offensive. Are you also offended by the word straight?

[–]USOutpost311 points 11 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Please stop defining me with your hate-speech. I am not a CIS, I am just a human being. My worldview is unduly burdened by your need to define yourself by labeling me.

That is an offensive form of hate-speech. If you need to label people, you can do it on your own time on your own private webpage. But you shouldn't be doing it on a public forum like reddit, and certainly not using such terms on college campuses using public money, in the workplace because that's an attempt to define discrimination from your perceived norm, or in the decent common media like Slate or Salon or the WSJ. Doing so is a terrible offense and an attempt to sideline my individuality based on your narrow definitions.

[–]Muffinizer1 -4 points-3 points-2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cis and human being aren't in any way mutually exclusive. Literally the only thing that is mutually exclusive to being cis is trans.

Are you transgender? If so, cool. If not, your cis, and that's cool too.

Are you lesbian, gay, or bisexual? If so, cool. If not, your straight and that's cool too.

Its the same thing as the word straight. I really am failing to understand where any level of hate is being introduced. Its an non-derogatory adjective.

All cis means is not trans. The only thing you can't be is cis and trans at the same time, which isn't restricting because cis is literally defined as being not trans, therefore it's impossible to be both.

[–]Blaphtome -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

We should do this with everything, let's try McDonald's. (NOM=Not McDonald's) So yesterday I had dinner at NOM Chili's; not bad but I wish NOM El Jarro had been open because their food is to die for. Like that?

OR MAYBE.

If you have 3 things, just call each thing the fuckin thing. You don't have to fuckin add shit to the name of each thing to indicate that it's not the other fuckin thing, JUST FUCKIN CALL EACH THING BY THE NAME OF THE THING THAT IT HAPPENS TO BE and most, if not all of us will know you are not referring to the other thing that you have not named.

What cis is about is the Mickey Mouse Fan Club. Mickey sends you a secret message in the mail that only you and a few friends know about. And now you have cool little secret shit you say to each other, and everyone else is dumb because their not "in the know". It's all very precious; fortunately adults don't care about any of that dumb shit.

Kind of interesting that they focus on her Kill All White Men tweet, which yes, is probably an ironic "joke" rather than an actual statement of intent to commit genocide, which i think is funny (thought unsurprising) that Slate ignores are the long list of statements she's made against white / straight people over and over again.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I've noticed that Slate, Salon, and HuffPost are silent on any issues that might trigger that demographic.

[–]CactusMasterRace 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ya know. It's weird. Slate and Huffpo (can't really speak for Salon) are normally just absolute Internet Feminist trash, but every once in a while they write something relevant (like when Slate wrote an article saying, 'No really. False accusations of rape happen. Like a lot. And, uh, yeah it turns out there are reasons a woman would make that shit up. Like personal gain')

She is the Welfare and Diversity Officer at Goldsmiths. The exact details of the job may elude me, but I imagine that what she is supposed to do is to fight to ensure that the campus is a fair and diverse place for people of all ethnic groups and all sexual orientations.

Obviously this is the just the big media groups blustering in and turning this brushfire into a blaze, so to speak. If you want to see more of her bullshittery, outside of "ironic misandry" then start here as we see the typical SJW defense: I am a minority and therefore can't be racist.

Does she want to kill all men? Probably not. Even if she wanted to, she lacks the means to do so. Still, someone who is voted to make the place equal for all people needs to not be such a humongous fucking twat in the commission of her duties.

More nonsense

[–]NetworkOfCakes 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A welfare and diversity officer should be someone you can approach if you're having problems related to your minority status. Like legit problems where you're being targeted by assholes for your skin colour or you simply don't understand how you can do something you want (lets say you just moved in and need special food for your religion) and they should be there to support you. To work as your go between from yourself and the people in charge who have bigger issues than to deal with students day to day whining but still need to do things for individual students occasionally. At least that is how I consider the position.

You also forgot she banned men and white people from a conference but then joked that she still wanted them to do work for her to set it up. Which is fucked up.

[–]CactusMasterRace 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's certainly inappropriate for her position. Yes.

[–]stanhhh 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The person writing the article on Slate is a grade A stupid fuck

[–]HomunculusEmeritus10 points 11 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

From the article: "This is the time we live in: Thousands of people have signed a petition to unseat a woman they’ve never heard of from a position they don’t understand at a school they’ve never visited over a tweet they’ve never seen."

The author apparently overlooked the irony that she herself is writing about people she never met who signed a petition for reasons she doesn't know and did so from positions she herself doesn't understand, and so on, all over a tweet the author further admits she couldn't find in the first place.

Ironic misandry and all that notwithstanding.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh wow. THAT of course veneer happened the other way around when a man was in trouble. The doublethink is string

[–]ShawnSDavis 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My grandmother was one of the first, if not the first single women in South Africa to fight and win custody of her children. She is a true feminist if you so desperately need to label the human desire to be with ones loved ones and care for ones responsibilities.

When I showed her this news story, she felt disgusted at how far feminism and the fight for equal rights in the "first world" has fallen. They insist on not being taken seriously, on being infantilized, on taking no responsibility.

Strange times indeed.

[–]Acosmist 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe...maybe Hitler was just being ironic, you guys? Were we unfair to him? Hipster Hitler was real.

You make me feel like Danzig...

[–]wriddell 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She appears to be as white as me, so outwardly people would easily mistake her for being Caucasian there by giving her all the supposed " advantages " to being white. I just wonder if anyone has pointed that out to her?

[–]NetworkOfCakes 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She is also claiming to be disabled but I can't find any mention of how. As someone with an invisible disability, I'm very aware that I wear it on my face constantly, the tired drawn out look that says "I'm fucked" just isn't possible to hide. I suspect her disability is likely "I'm not white" as opposed to a real disability.

[–]worthlessfucksunited 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

PTSD from Internet comments, obviously.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How this person was put into any position of power is beyond me.

[–]diggyziggy 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have signed it.

But here's what I say we should do. If this cunt doesn't like white men lets buy her a one way ticket to stay with Isis. I mean their not white and they will treat her really well. Give her a job and education. Let her go where she likes and speak her mind on any issues. Oh wait that would be white men that would do that. Sorry.

The Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle to TIMOTHY

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come... Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good... For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins...Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
