I'm trying to get with an HB8 and i've been sort of friendzoned, although not really.

So far we haven't talked for more than 3 times (all of which I was flirting and touching etc..) and when I asked if she wanted to hang out (via text, which I came to realise was a poor choice) she initially said yes but after a few hours she wanted to clarify if it were just as friends. I took this as a shit test because we don't have enough foundation to be friends anyway, plus since it's via text she could think i'm a loser, so I just told her no and "it's to see if we can be friends." Which surprisingly she was fine with and said sure for us hanging this weekend.

Since we go to the same school and are in the same year (I'm in my final year of high school) I managed to catch her walking through the hallways after school and sparked up a convo as we walked to the library. She was doing her french homework but I didn't leave her alone (I would have gone if she told me to) which is where the persistence kicked in.

As she was almost adamantly ignoring me i kept talking to her looking at her face and giving eye contact when she turned. I was sort of confused as to why she wasn't shit testing me, probably because she thought we were just friends but after a long time of just flirting and kino, right on cue the shit tests came rolling in like the boulder from Indiana Jones.

She asked me about my future aspirations and told me I wasn't allowed to be grown up because she doesn't want to face the responsibilities of becoming an "adult" etc.., which I disagreed and amplified saying I'm extremely grown up whereas she'll be a kid forever.

In the end I had little to show for but a final shit test, where I asked her to hug me goodbye while I was standing and she was sitting down. She told me she didn't want to stand up and I should hug her while she sat down. I said no of course and told her to stand up, which she eventually did but she pretended as if she was going to leave without hugging me, to which I called her out on and she said with a smile on her face that she "was trying her best to avoid the hug". I completely ignored her and went in for it and while I was about to pull away she pulled me back in for a bit and then pulled away. She left abruptly afterwards before I could say anything more.

Finally my question is if I should keep persisting or quit it.

PS. I should mention that I hooked up with one of her friends (or person she occasionally hangs out with) outside of a bar that her and some other friends were. I think that girl may have gotten quite a bit of shit as their is sort of a slut-shaming culture in our school.
