I'd be curious to see how much of the drop in male degrees around 2001 had to do with the war. Like, are we falling behind in degrees because of the military service bump?

This is good news.

No seriously. It used to be that a bachelors degree had inherent value on the job market. Now only some do. If you aren't cut out for STEM or business, no matter how smart you are, you're better off going to trade school or something else than getting an English degree. Guys are opting out. Meanwhile women are getting more degrees, for sure, but men still dominate the fields that actually matter, meaning the vast majority of women are chasing useless degrees. Guys aren't behind the curve, we're ahead of it.
