Woman randomly bashed on night out is "new and battered face of the fight against violence towards women". Yet the vast majority of random public bashing are against men, none of whom become the face of "violence against men". So violence against women is just about special treatment?

Everyone is up in arms that a guy hit a woman.

Anyone remember this?

"violence against women" is where feminists get their power. They point to it and say "see women are oppressed by men, we need more feminism"

edit: there -> their

anyone else suspect there's a LOT more to this story? I know the media would like us to believe this story begins out of nowhere with a man punching out two women, but it seems like there's a preface to the story that might be interesting to know the details of.

I have I agree, they do not want to point out the beginning of the evening where it ended with him spitting in her face and she pushed him down.

Wonder what happened before that.

Whipped his cock out and demanded sex. Kept harassing her to make him a sandwich and made fun of her because women can't do math. Insisted that she must be a lesbian because she was wearing trousers. /s

yeah, there is clearly a bunch of missing pieces in this article, or the assailant is a mentally ill person that needs help (and locking up).

experience tells me it's far more likely that there's a lot more to the story...like a couple of drunk chicks started some shit and thought being a girl was the same as being punch proof...than it is likely the guy is just mentally unstable.

I think she is meant to be the face of not just general violence against women but specifically of men's violence against women, whereas most violence against men is by men.

It's still a bunch of bullshit, yea, but I think the point is being over looked.

men's violence against women

But this phrase refers to violence that women experience, that men supposedly don't - e.g. domestic violence. Random street violence is something overwhelming experienced by men, so it's hard to see how this is an example of violence against women, i.e. the kind of violence only women experience.

Reminds me of gendered violence in video games and the controversy surrounding grand theft auto.

In Grand Theft Auto:

You are required to kill men in order to complete the game.

You have the option of killing women. Just like you have the option of killing everyone in the game. The only people who you can't kill are people who need to be alive for the sake of the game's story.

Yet feminists claim that Grand Theft Auto promotes violence against women.

What. The fuck. Is going on. In Australia?
