I've always been an anti-feminist. It's really not hard to see through their drivel if one keeps an open mind on such things and instead of conforming to the social narrative stop and question it for a bit and instead you suddenly find enter a whole new world and see for yourself how men around the world, especially the Western world, are having their rights persistently taken away from them in the name of feminism and equality. You just need to open your fucking eyes.

That being said, though, I didn't know of the Men's Rights Movement until recently (e.g. this is my first post here). I think partly the reason for this is because the community by and large doesn't do a very good job of advertising itself and we cannot rely on mainstream media coverage to do so as the feminist media obviously wants to deny our existence and in the off chance that there is coverage, it would obviously be twisted into a very negative light.

Even then, despite the lack of exposure and extreme negative publicity this movement gets, it is still steadily growing. That I personally think to be undeniable. In recent years there has been an explosion in activity in the MRM and that can in my opinion clearly be attributed to men (and a few women) finding their fucking wits and realizing just how problematic and entrenched this problem has become.

There needs to be more activism. More awareness raising, and promotion of discussion on men’s issues; such as circumcision, mental health and male suicide, etc. Feminists sure as hell aren’t going to do it. Historically the greatest bringers of change and activists, such as the original anti-slavery activists, were part of a definite cultural minority and ridiculed by mainstream culture. So too is the MRM today; and if the movement is genuinely motivated enough for change then history will repeat itself and change will happen. But such things will not happen with just wishful discussion on reddit and preaching about the evils of feminism… to an audience that is already well aware of this. They are not the target audience.

Hell, statistics show and do demonstrate that things aren’t THAT BAD. For example, recent polling suggests that the majority of women and the vast majority of men do not consider themselves feminist; 25% of women of the age 40+ and… wait for it, only 8% of teenage women self-identity as feminist. There’s counter-feminist movements involving women, such as the #WomenAgainstFeminism just a while back. As far as I’m concerned, this is already a cause of celebration to the MRM. It demonstrates that feminism already is eroding, as its actions become more and more out of line with its supposed goals and there is by and large a social awakening taking place that feminism is no longer about equality, but instead female supremacy.

And as far as I’m concerned, if 25% of women are feminist, then 75% of them are a potential MRM supporter. Even more percentages of men. We just need to play our cards right and inform everyone that the MRM is not what feminist media paints us to be and point out feminist hyprocrisy and feminist destruction of masculinity and male liberty in a factual and tactful manner. Publicly outing yourself as a MRA is committing social suicide and unlikely to get you an audience. However personally I think there are numerous ways that the MRM can get its voice heard and bring about change.

  1. Distribution of material pertaining to men’s health issues such as male suicide and false rape accusations. Initially they should not contain things like ‘feminism’ or ‘Men’s Rights Movement’ as such wording is confronting and would cause unease for readers. Focus on the facts and them alone, and the inequality of such actions, as by not associating yourself with any movement such arguments are difficult for feminists to rebuke – for example, such as the ‘Silent 40’ pamphlets me and a friend are currently working on that discuss how 40% of domestic violence victims are male. If handing stuff out in public is too confronting (and for good reason too) one could always place them in mailboxes or even chain e-mail them. As long as ONE open-minded person successfully reads such information I would consider it a success.

  2. Another tactic could be making information, such as pamphlets that detail with backed up quotes and sources how feminism is detrimental to true equality and share links to mens rights websites discussing this. A usable tactic is asking people on the street ‘are you are feminist’; if they respond ‘yes’ then just find an excuse (i.e. project on feminism) and walk away; if they respond ‘no’ hand them a pamphlet detailing the harmful effects of feminism and explain how it would give them a more rounded understanding of the movement. These ‘feminism exposed’ brochures should be high in visual material and facts to really hammer the point home.

  3. People on this sub could pitch in and create an entry-level website; I dunno, call it ‘Feminism 101’ or ‘Feminism Revealed’ or something, which provides an introductory statements such as ‘What is Feminism?’ or ‘What is Patriachy?’ but remove the feminist bullshit and go straight to the point to educate readers on the true goals of the feminist movement. Current MRA sites are not really welcoming to newcomers nor do they explain how feminism is detrimental clearly so having such a site would be REALLY helpful in informing the uninformed. There could also be sites set up on men’s issues. Over time, through heavy promotion on mainstream sites (such as in comment sections) or through word of mouth such information could grow and be shared thus allowing the world to see the true face of the Mens Rights Movement. There could also be ‘Answering Feminism’, which rebukes common feminist arguments (such as the wage gap) with science and facts. I could help.

  4. Feminists can ridicule the MRM all they want but their biggest fear is true genuine exposure of the MRM to the public. So, even if it’s not in real life, get on the internet and SPREAD THE WORD. Minutes investing in complaining about discrimination of men on this sub can easily be transformed into minutes invested into educating the public. On the internet you’re afforded the cloak of anonymity anyway, so just go into any forum that you see fit. Spread the word in forums. Chatrooms. Whatever. Most people won’t care and others will jest, but all it takes is one or two to see how they’ve been deceived and suddenly everything is worthwhile.

MRAs believe in absolute equality and altruism for all. MRAs would absolutely oppose any sexism or discrimination of women, whereas feminists strongly support inferior social and legal status for men. In an MRA world, everybody would have healthcare. In a feminist world, men who can’t afford healthcare would be left to die. In an MRA world, the law would protect every human from domestic violence. In a feminist world, domestic violence against men would be legal. In an MRA world, the education system would value male and female students equally. In a feminist world, male students would be viewed as less important. I always like to think that this hypothetical explains the difference between feminists and MRAs. Suppose you had a town with 200 homeless people, 100 male, 100 female. To deal with the town’s homelessness problem, MRAs would say “lets build enough shelters for 200 people.” While feminists would say “lets build enough women’s shelters for 100 women.”

Feel free to share your best strategies at raising awareness to the MRM movement. Most importantly, spread the world, promote activism, actually invest in some time – no matter how little – in furthering the lives of belittled and oppressed men everywhere, around the world. Talking about oppression on reddit doesn’t do much. But action, genuine action, gets people places.
