I clicked through to a linked paper at http://www.arc.gov.au/arc-gender-equality-action-plan-2015-16, and didn't have to mine far to strike a rich vein of hypocrisy ...

The ARC is committed to ensuring that all eligible researchers, irrespective of gender, have the opportunity to participate in National Competitive Grants Programme (NCGP) funding schemes

then a few lines down under "existing initiatives":

offers at least two named Australian Laureate Fellowships targeted at outstanding women researchers

Not surprised by the pro-feminist bias at Australian Research Council (ARC) as recently communicated with them on another matter as described at http://www.fighting4fair.com/uncategorized/regarding-online-harassment/

In the comments section, Sarah Maddision (Dean of Science, Prof. of Astrophysics at Swinburne Uni) says:

So one view could be that women are being “advantaged” with the introduction of the 2 targeted Laureates, which in 2014 resulted in a 2.2% great success rate by women. Yet another view could be that 4 times as many men as women were awarded Laureates in 2014.

Umm... yeah. That statistic you quote Sarah - it wouldn't have anything to do with merit, would it? Awfully misogynist of me to suggest such a thing of course...
