That is what happens, but that's a defeiciency of theirs/ours. That is a teachable moment.

The suffragettes were posh ladies from the parasitic class of society who demanded rights that working men and women did not have, and in fact they often justified [rich] female suffrage as a way to counterbalance the votes of working men in case they ever got it. In the US that took the form of Belle Kearney touting it as a way to neutralize the black vote.

This is what Americans need to know about the suffragettes.

Have a read of The Suffragette Bombers: Britain's Forgotten Terrorists by Simon Webb. Incidentally, I haven't formed my opinion from only one source. My mother was born in 1917, after the bombing campaign, but obviously she was brought up among people who had lived through it, and despite voting whenever she got the chance, she felt nothing but contempt for the suffragettes. The degree of anger felt by normal people, especially women, towards the suffragettes, has been completely erased from the conversation, and likewise the critical contribution of politicians, trades unionists, and other suffrage campaigners who did the real work of electoral reform, is ignored because of the glamour of violent protest. If we lose people by telling the truth then so be it.

If memory serves, Karen believes that female suffrage is unfair since women do no have the same civic obligations as men (including being conscripted into war). However she does advocate removing female suffrage (nor is that remotely plausible). She suggests either conscripting women or ending conscription.

She said in the program that she thought there needed to be a "renegotiation" between the sexes during first wave feminism, but that they almost always went about it the wrong way, only focussing on areas where women were disadvantaged. A good example of this is domestic violence. It was a good thing that feminists drew attention to the issue and lobbied for shelters; however in so doing they ignored male victims. This led to the Duluth model, whereby men can be arrested for being victims of DV. The ultimate result is that domestic violence continues, because they viewed the problem though an ideological lens.

Rape? Same thing. By only focussing on male perpetrators, they allow boys to be sexually abused by women, who then grow up become rapists. So they essentially contribute to the problem they are so obsessed with rather than solving it.

I fail to see how giving people rights without the responsibilities that go along with them, is "of value."

To be clear, I think you're right on the issues. I'm just saying what I think is the best way for winning. For example, I think social security should be voluntary. But I wouldn't say that If I were running for office because it would never happen and therefore is just an abstract position. So why alienate voters? For our purposes, what's the difference who was responsible for enfranchising women 100 yrs. ago? We want to change wrongs that are occurring now. Maybe you're right. I don't have enough knowledge to say either way. But it's not worth pressing it.
