Just another neurotic male feminist. He's bought into the idea that people are guilty and deserve blame for the wrongdoing of other people that physically resemble them.

He imagines this whole storyline going on in the woman hitchhiker's mind that may or may not be there. Does he talk to her? Does he ask if something's wrong, or does he tell her that he's a feminist or do anything to communicate that there's nothing to worry about? Of course not.

Not much more to say about it. All I can think is that it's really weird to me that people who would be outraged by "all black people are responsible for crime" or "all women are responsible for abused children" can be successfully taught to believe that all men are responsible for the harm done by others.
