If couples separate the men will not get custody of the children even if he is a stay at home dad. The father wins a very small percentage of the contested child custody cases.

The wife can make false allegations of rape or domestic violence and will not be punished.

If they get divorced the female is preferentially treated by the courts.

Where do you think this urge to give preferential treatment to women over men comes from? I believe that it's a natural, instinctual drive. Assuming my belief is correct, how difficult would you consider it to be to change our society to be more fair and balanced towards men?

I believe that it's a natural, instinctual drive.

Then you would believe incorrectly. We actually used to have default custody land with the father until feminists pushed the Tender Years Doctrine on us.

Sure, but wasn't this because the father was the sole one expected to be financially responsible for his children and even his wife? I believe Karen Straughan has spoken about this before.

Edit: Found a transcript of one of her presentations, but I'd recommend reading the entire thing.

http://www.avoiceformen.com/a-voice-for-men/karen-straughan-presentation-to-the-international-conference-on-mens-issues-2014-womenagainstfeminism/

"Because the husband and father was and is responsible for the subsistence of his wife and family therefore he was recognized as logically the proper person to administer and inherit the property of the family”—including the child. “But as time wore away the barriers raised for protection became coercive between the family and the world; as individual life began to call women out of the home, and property amassed by the wife was claimed by the husband and used sometimes for his benefit rather than hers, the gradual changes began to take place which have in the last 30 or 40 years entirely changed the relation of the wife toward property and the guardianship of her children. This change has all been in the favor of the wife and mother, and one after another the privileges which men had over the property of their wives and the guardianship of their children have not only been lost but many of them have been actually reversed.” That’ll be the Tender Years Doctrine. “The legal relations are as though they were unmarried, excepting marriage. The wife cannot release the husband from the obligation to support her.

“For over thirty years—” already, in 1910, for over 30 years—“a woman has been able to hold and enjoy her separate property, however acquired, even when it had been given by her husband, freed from any interference or control by him, and from all liability for his debts. A husband is, however, liable for necessaries purchased by his wife and also for money given his wife by a third person to purchase necessaries, and he is bound to support her and her children without regard to her individual or separate estate. Even when a separation occurs—” and this is really crucial because divorce was extremely hard to come by; and so when families, when couples, split up, they were separated, but they could not divorce unless one was at fault … “Even when a separation occurs a husband is compelled through the payment of alimony to continue to support his wife, nothing short of infidelity on her part and consequent divorce relieving him of that liability. No obligation, however, to furnish necessities to a husband rests upon the wife under any circumstances whatever.

Before the tender years doctrine men got custody of the children. This new phenomenon of women getting the kids is a feminist thing. Same thing happened in Rome.

It's obviously instinctual to prioritise women over men. The only way to overcome this is relentless, constant social reprogramming pushed through all channels with the idea that women and men are equally valuable. I imagine this would still take a very long time to pull off but I don't see any other way.

[–]dpkingify 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's obvious to people like you or me, but for some, it's essentially a lost cause. I totally agree with your sentiment that there needs to be a consistent social push to change the minds of people. If the quality of life for the average person continues to increase, then the process should be a lot easier as well.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah. As far as I can see, the greatest problem facing MRAs is that there is more or less hardwired resistance to the to the idea that man are as valuable as women, which makes it difficult for any such push to get started and to imprint itself into the minds of people.

The good thing is that MRAs exist, which serves as proof that these things can be changed with sufficient persuasion.

Not only do MRAs and the MRM exist, the movement seems to be growing in number, too.

Short of putting chips in people's brains, I don't think reprogramming is going to work. However, LGBT tolerance and the resulting acceptance of a gender continuum will help a lot, as will the development of sexbots. A lot of what props up gynocentric attitudes is the existence of opportunistic white knights who are willing to to sacrifice their fellow man to gain greater access to sex. For this reason, the market value of sex needs to drop to zero.
