I'm working with a coworker on a project that I'm leading. I'm not specifically her boss, but she is under me in this project. I asked her to help me out with something and gave clear directions on how to do, and I gave her freedom to solve the problem instead of micromanaging like my boss. We are working with user interface design and I told her twice that she needed to build something from scratch to solve the problem, she wrote the thinking process but didn't execute the work, so I was not sure if it was a problem with laziness or if she doesn't feel safe/secure to do it (I always take my time to explain how it's done and say that it's ok to ask for help). She didn't do it well, although other tasks previously she did it well some months ago. I asked her to try again with specific steps, and she sent me again something similar (copy and pasted something in photoshop instead of instead of building the interface from scratch in another software). I think she is lying and it's not the first time I catch a possible lie. I would like to call her bullshit without causing trouble because I might be leading a new team once I get promoted and she mentioned that she would like to join my team (without me asking her), and I don't like to work with people that lie, I also don't punish people by saying the truth. What is the best way to call her BS and say that if she wants to work with me and be independent she needs to have responsibility, do a good job, be accountable and not lie about things? note: I didn't give her a deadline, so she had time to do it. Note: she is very young and I had those kinds of problems when I was junior too, but people gave me feedback to flag and solve the problem.
