The well-renownd (and albeit controversial) feminist magazine Cosmopolitan published an article titled "10 LOL Things the "Magic Mike XXL" Cast Has Said About Waxing and Working Out", citing quotes from actors in the film discussing their preparation for the film. Here are few of the quotes:

"I just knew [the rest of the cast] was going to show up ready to kill, and I didn't want to be the weak link. I had only six weeks to prepare, and honestly, I was like, 'Am I going to have to do a cycle of steroids?'" —Adam Rodriguez

""When I did my prep for this, you're doing it and you're dying. You go, 'Okay, I'm going to cut carbs out. I'm going to cut out processed stuff. I'm going to cut this out and that out.' I just kept waiting and waiting, telling myself, 'This will be the last bottle of wine I drink.'" —Kevin Nash

"I don't want to look small. Joe is mad big. He's a big dude ... film is forever. You gotta be able to stand next to Joe." —tWitch

And if that was not enough humor, the article included a "Bonus Penis Quote":

"Basically, we all were taking penis-enlargement pills since the last one, so we weren't worried about what temperature the room was when we came out to do our dances. That's what XXL means." —Channing Tatum

The title itself claims that these quotes are laughable, and that it is humorous that men are in fear of having an inferior muscle complex, contemplating steroid use, and are so self-conscious about not having a large enough penis that they have resorted to penis-enlargement pills to have satisfactory penis size for the audience.

No part of any of these issues is humorous. These are serious issues that plague men in today's society and are only perpetuated by ignorant and negligent magazines like Cosmopolitan who manipulate the minds of their readers into believing it is acceptable to cast off any issues regarding men's bodies.

I hate to bring this back onto feminists, however I cannot help but imagine the uproar that would ensue if a magazine such as GQ or Men's Fitness were to publish an article laughing at women's insecurity with their bodies (and including a bonus boob quote outlining the humor of breast enlargement treatments).

I did some further research on this author's "work" (if you even call it that) and discovered an article titled "Awesome Graffiti Defaces Body-Shaming Billboard", which reviews a billboard that was defaced by graffiti because it promoted plastic surgery to get rid of "muffin tops".

Seems as though it is empowering for women to criticize a billboard for body shaming, however it is humorous to read quotes about men with the same exact issue.
