This whole "rape culture" thing is simply the latest in a long list of hysterias our society has dealt with since the beginning of human history. Unfortunately, we still seem to have lot of people who haven't learned anything from history and those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I fear that nothing will be done about this nonsense until the mob hysteria has run it's course and a significant number of people are severely damaged by it. This is what seems to happen in all of these situations... the Salem witch trials, the McCarthy hearings of the 1950's, the daycare satanic/sex abuse hysteria of the 1980's and 1990's, etc., etc.

News flash, the feminist (ie:Sociology students) who take the survey are going to slant the stats so it fits their political bias so they have a job teaching "women's studies" when they graduate. That or some other "women as victims" occupation.

Or the people on mturk who are paid to take surveys and have no integrity and are willing to pretend to be college chicks who've been sexually assaulted to make $0.15

I think the trend has been to criminalize all male activity that women don't like. so "politically incorrect" or "overbearing" entreaties for sex are counted as rape. That's also a very paradoxical way to "end" rape, by categorizing basically all male-initiated sex as rape ("unwanted sexual advances" as some colleges now define sexual assault). How about we end rape by sticking to its legal definition, and teach women to say no, teach men to be gentlemen, and teach everyone to drink responsibly?

Even boundary setting or trying to help is now misconstrued often as assault or "rape". I've told the story before how I tried to help/prevent a drunk girl from getting arrested and immediately got socially chastised for being a creeper/masher. Never mind that what I did probably saved her, me, and a bunch of people a lot of pain and kept my house from getting kicked off campus.

There is a rape culture alright. More like a false rape accusation culture, where if you even so much as look at a woman without her explicit permission, you get expelled.

Seriously, its easy to fix this imaginary rape culture. Separate male and female students. Don't allow those girls access to potential future husband material and the poor things won't keep getting 'raped'.

sane campus women are already upset. UVA sorority members said they weren't children and they still wanted to go to fraternity functions. Women at the University of Missouri said the same thing when Greek leadership discussed banning women from fraternities. Maybe rational campus women will be the ones to finally stand up to rape hysteria?
