Got an email the other day and fired back this reply:

"I have just received an email promoting your Women at Work career fair.

Can you please tell me when the 'Men at Work' Career Fair is scheduled for? If one is not planned can you please advise on what basis that decision was made?

It's my understanding that since the onset of the GFC, that men in the workforce have been more seriously impacted than women, and that only recently did the unemployment rate for men catch up with that for women. In the current tough employment market, everyone could do with some help.

Got the following response this evening:

"Thank you for your email. We appreciate your feedback, we strongly believe that a lot of the content covered in the VFAIR, and the webinars being run by our customers are applicable to both genders. On Monday for example a webinar was run by WGEA on negotiating a pay rise.

At present, we do not have a Men's VFAIR planned however we are launching a new CareerOne platform on Monday the 6th July and this has new features designed to provide a career consultation service and a career coaching service. We would welcome you to come back to the site week commencing the 6th July and in the meantime, please browse the VFAIR for content that is really quite relevant to both genders.

That being the case I guess they could even call it the 'Australians at Work career fair', but that doesn't have the same PC-sizzle now does it?

Note for non-Australians: The WGEA, Workplace Gender Equality Agency, is a bit of a joke in that it is a gov't agency that employs no men last time I checked
