My email

I don't hold out much hope for this request but I'll do it any way.

Studies done in Australia and around the world (http://web.csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htm) show that DV is NOT gendered but generational. All the reliable studies (ones that ask both genders the same questions) show that DV is about 50/50. It's only studies done by talking to Women's shelters, Women's help lines and Women's support services that find a greater proportion of Women.

When systems are put in place that start from a gendered standpoint they are doomed to fail, or make the situation worse.

In this case you are going to completely erase all the male, gay and lesbian victims of DV and protect all the female perpetrators.

By not including female perpetrators of DV you are making the problem so much worse. In Australia the 'Family' Courts are systematically biased against Fathers and so the children almost exclusively go to the Mothers. While this is abhorrent in itself, it's made even worse when DV is brought into the mix.

Australian families are repeatedly told that only Men are violent (as you are continuing to do) and so the abuse at the hands of Women gets hidden. Children in abusive families are now left in the custody of abusive Mothers who don't believe they are abusive (because they're not Men) and the stressors of being a single parent exacerbate the situation. The abuse becomes worse, the children no longer have the Father's protection and they grow up believing that violence is acceptable in family situations. The cycle continues.

Erin Pizzy (who started the worlds first Battered Women's Shelter in the UK) devoted her life to fighting DV has been trying to treat the cause of the problem for decades. Feminist terrorists in the UK had her driven from her own Shelter movement, sent her bomb threats and killed her dog before she was forced to flee the country.

Every time somebody tries to fix the problem of Domestic Violence, Feminists silence them. They do it with legislation like the VAWA and DVDS. When people try to meet and simply talk about male suicide and DV they disrupt meetings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iARHCxAMAO0)

Please make a difference and do some good. IF you do this naming and shaming project, at least make it fair.

  1. Make absolutely sure that all names in the database are of people who are actually habitual abusers, not just people with vindictive ex-partners.
  2. Make sure both male and female abusers are in the system.
  3. If you advertise this system, make sure at least 55% of the perpetrators are female and show some men calling the line.

Thanks for reading

The deadline for public submissions is this Friday (19 June 2015). Submissions only need to be a few sentences if you wish.

The discussion paper and related media releases fail to clearly and unambiguously state that the proposed register will also include abusive women. I suspect that unless people demand that it does then either it won't ... or it will, but that aspect of it will be kept very quiet.

I'm not saying that I think a register will be effective, only that if there is going to be one (and the state gov't has already promised that there will be one), then it should include both men and women.

i read the discussion documents, and it's all written in gender-neutral language, and the UK law it's based on is gender-neutral too.

From skimming the document it seems to be a gender neutral proposition.

Yes the discussion document uses mainly gender-neutral language, but all the examples used paint the male as the aggressor. A small thing but I would be asking them to use more varied examples (i.e male, female, LGBT, Transexual, physical, emotional).
