So I really needed a tire for my bike several days ago. I assumed I would be ok, going without checking their hours. I got there, and found out that it was women's night, and I could not go in quickly, and buy a tire, that I really needed. The woman who shut me down was very rude, and acted offended by my very presence. I was leaving out of town the next day, and really needed to get a new tire for my bike. I left when asked to leave, but I was furious on the inside. I do not understand how a business, although a non profit one can kick a paying customer out, because it is "Womens night."
I went outside, and waited for an opportunity to get what I needed. I was going to text my sister, but I knew she was busy. I eventually saw a man, who was waiting for his spouse. He was also upset that he could not go in, because he needed to work on his bike as well. He said it was sexist, and offered to have his wife buy me the tire when she got out. She eventually got out, and I gave her the money, and info needed to get what I needed. She came back promptly, with my tire, and I thanked them for their kindness.
The whole point of this post is to prove how feminists want equality but then they pull stunts like this. I understand that other places have "ladies night", but they still allow men. I have never been denied entrance into an establishment, because I have a penis. If I was more witty I would have responded back; "I am not a man, I am actually a woman." If gender is in your head, that line could have worked for me. Has anyone else ever been through a similar experience to mine?
