To preface this, the original reason for the NCO was that she had tried to run me down with her car as I was riding my bicycle.
Fast forward 6 months, I pick my 3y/o daughter up on Friday evening for weekend visitation per court order. We spend an uneventful weekend together. On Sunday, at our regular exchange time, I take her to our neutral exchange site which is a local hospital lobby. 90 minutes later, still no sign of the mother, so I document with hospital staff that we were indeed there, just to cover my ass due to previous lies by ex. I plan on going to court Tuesday to charge her with child abandonment, since Monday is Memorial day. A friend of mine who lives 6 blocks away invites us over for dinner, and I accept, cause hey, free food right. On the way to his house, me riding bicycle, hauling daughter in bike trailer, I turn down an alley a block from our destination. About a 1/4 block later, I hear an engine rev behind us, and suddenly an unfamiliar vehicle comes along side, and swerves towards us. I swerve away, and accelerate. The vehicle swerves towards me 2 more times trying to cut me off before I can reach the relative safety of my friends yard, and as I dismount, I see my kids mom come running from the vehicle, screaming about me kidnapping HER child. I start to resist, but not wanting to traumatize the child, or be criminally charged, I allow her to remove our child from the trailer and leave. I call the police to report the NCO violation, and 10 minutes or so later 2 male officers arrive, and in a very belligerent manner begin to question me. I can tell by their manner, they are about to arrest me. Fortunately, I have a copy of the NCO in my pocket, and point out to them that I am the protected party. They finally relent, and take my incident report and call it in. The police dispatch to her house to arrest her, but contrary to court order, instead of bring the child to me, they allow her time to find a baby sitter. The lesson here is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS carry that paperwork, it could spare you a trip to jail.
