I would say go for the safe choice.

I've learnt the very hard way that college is not about your passions, it's insurance for future financial stability. You can always be passionate about something without needing to make it your profession, learn and practice it on the side, go back to it. You want your professional degree to be something you can always fall back on no matter what. No one's ever said is there an economist on the plane.

Good thing you asked and I saw your post, I'm a Economics student and currently it's my 4th year. It would make me the most qualified person to answer.

Do not choose the Economics. You said "what?" I repeat do not pick it. It is the most 'unnecessary' hard area of all economy departments. First of all it is the mix of every thing, mostly economics and statistics but you'll mainly focus on math part, you'll have to memorize tons of formules, and even there will be some that noone can, so they'll give you a huge paper and you'll bring your calculator to join every exam.

I will give you an example to make you understand better. Someone gives you a thousand pages long phone book and says memorize them. You know you can do it but it is unnecesserily hard and pointless, so is the economics.

I regret every single day and literally didn't went to university to take a break of this mental madness. I'd be telling you with my 4 year of economics knowledge, pick any of the other departmants related to economy, you'll most likely do the generally same job but you'll spend your years better in university. If you do however pick the economics, you'll have to mainly focus on giving your courses and being able to gradute instead of having fun. I hope it helps, don't make the mistake that I did.

Make the choice that will make the better story. Economics cam branch into anything, med school is pretty much in the pocket with a lot more time on the job
