We do not live in a society that shows men as only those things, though. We live in a society that shows very complex views of men and women. The idea that men are those things are somewhere in there, along with the idea that men can be lawmakers, inventors, innovators, thinkers, pioneers. We idolize and aspire to be somewhat comparable to Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Buzz Aldrin, Jackie Robinson, etc. Unfortunately, the balances of messages is getting to be more negative, and it seems like so many places are forgetting boys in order to push girls forward.

Look, once you see how much society portrays men as stupid, worthless monsters, it's hard to not see it. What sucks most is that society leans toward doing so far more because of the influence of idiotic feminist bullshit.

Yes, people need to be allowed to vent. Here isn't the place. There's /r/MensRants I believe which is probably better for random things like this. A rights movement shouldn't be associated too much with random complaining, though.

And we can't pretend everything that has a guy and a gal that doesn't glorify him is sexist against men. That's the point where this will eventually get to if people don't slow down. Not everything is sexist. Looking for sexism everywhere just makes the world a bad place.

I agree with you completely but here's the thing: Women want "female heroes" to look up to but don't want to put in the work that Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, or the rest did. Bill Gates did not cash in his "white privilege" card for his fame and success. Same with Steve Jobs.

The problem with feminists and sexism is that they do not look at the accomplishments those men made and say "Wow! If I work hard maybe I can become something great!" They say "Wow! I want their success and you're going to give it to me!"

The problem is we have a group of radfems that are pushing the idea that the only sexism is against women while promoting the negative aspects of men being blumbering idiots and rapists without any pushback at all. The scariest thing is those feminists are the ones being listened to and we have to say something.

edit 2: (strikethrough and--) I see by post history that you likely aren't trolling, but for real your comment ignores Grailums' points, sidesteps them, brings up that you are female as if to derail the gender reversal point that was being made, while flat out ignoring the point it made... then you went on to (essentially) lump together in order to berate / speak poorly of supporters of the movement who draw attention to issues you --as a self-proclaimed non-male-- see as less relevant. So, if that is going to be your MO from here on, I would imagine you could do more for MR by applying your same .... enlightenment... instead to a different sub, like 2x or something...

Now, this is comedy. I dislike the ad because it's ridiculously stupid but I don't see any benefit to men playing the victim here. Yes, it would be ridiculous and probably seen as wrong if you reversed both genders. But people are making a big deal of stupid shit when far worse things happen. If there were some gender flipped version of this commercial, I could see a problem. But this commercial isn't even just using a random woman. It's using a character from a television show. This is like criticizing Flo from the Progressive commercial for implying women are crazy stalkers.

Sorry, perhaps you're new to the movement: the social mores of what is acceptable portrayal of males / females are fundamental to the modern concepts of human nature & by extension the lack of compassion towards the issues faced by and the general (mis)treatment of men.

I don't want to be rude by not addressing how this would not quite be "like criticizing Flo from the Progressive commercial for implying women are crazy stalkers.", but take the opportunity to point out that a part of umbrella under which this & other issues fall, is how the media is swayed against negative or inappropriate portrayals of women, and in so doing has shifted that which had been deemed ever-so-wrong to visit upon any woman, not only acceptable to portray enacted upon males, but in fact "good advertising".

And seriously I don't get why you claim to take such offense to men daring to feel maligned by something. I do agree there are bigger issues, but it would never be enough to stop the enslavement, oppression, or genocide of a people; it's absolutely necessary for equality, that each "us" and each "them" be treated with the same decency and dignity that can be expected or demanded by any "them" or any "us".
