Thanks for sharing this as it's an interesting find (I'm listening to it while I'm working).

Occasionally though I get pulled up short by the vlogger's comments like this one from ManWomanMyth - Feminism - Origins of Feminism - part 3 (at c. 1'50"):

"It's women's greed that has fuelled Feminism. The architects of Feminism knew they could count on the stupidity and greed of women and their desire to have it all"

Who does this kind of comment help really? Would people talk about the 'stupidity and greed' of Karen Straughn, Alison Tieman or Hannah Wallin on the grounds that they are women for instance?

I find that kind of statement (it's not the only one I've come across so far) a shame because it mars what otherwise so far seems to be a well-thought out set of videos.

Just watched 4 of them. They are quite interesting and bring up some decent points. I would suggest he is too harsh on women (stupid, greedy, etc) though. Many people (men and women) fall for ideas that don't have the substance they think it does (communism is one example). It isn't a unique quality of women that makes them prone to this, it's human nature.

Other than that though, I find the theory of "getting women to work" actually very interesting. At its core, all women had to be convinced of was:

1) You are not as happy as you think you are (super easy to do for ANYONE, everyone thinks they can be happier)

2) In general, it's men's fault (they are keeping all the happiness for themselves)

That's it. From those 2 statements, you have pretty much all of feminism. To reiterate my point, those 2 core statements are pretty much the same as SO MANY beliefs today. From class struggles to racial struggles, the concept of "I'm could be happier, and it's X groups fault" is pretty much universal.

Now, the interesting thing is how it could possibly explain a lot of feminist behavior TODAY. When it started, the goal may have been to get women to work (which is accomplished). The problem was, when women started going to work, they started realizing that it really isn't as much fun as they had been led to believe. Now feminists, instead of questioning the core premise (maybe men DON'T have it as good as we thought) instead doubled down. The reason why they hadn't found happiness yet was because of work place conditions. Was because the men were the managers (that's where the pot of gold must be!). Was because there weren't EXACTLY the same number of women in executive positions, etc.

The problem is, no matter how much they excelled in education and in the work place, they never found that pot of gold that men had been hiding. They never found that amazing experience they had been sold. So, now it must be because of a non-existent wage gap. It must be because of manspreading, and mansplaining, and harassment. So through the eyes of this theory, feminism is still desperately trying to find the dream they had been promised so many years ago.

Feminism is akin to the valley people in "Tin Soldier". They were convinced that there was a treasure the mountain people (men) were hiding from them and, despite men trying to convince them otherwise (And all evidence to the contrary) the will attack the mountain people looking for the non-existent treasure until no one is happy.

When I watch/read/see things like this it saddens me a bit. I support men's rights because I feel as if feminists are men haters and place blame on all men, lumping them all into one group. and it's not fair to men. Especially since a large chunk of men are good people who deserve no blame or hate. It's wrong to lump anyone into any group based on anything other than their own actions. To here him say all women are greedy and stupid reminds me very much of the feminist movement's attacks on men. And while a lot of his points are, well, on point, the fact that he seems to lump all women into this evil category just takes away for the power of his words.

TL:DR Don't become the thing you hate. He has good points but shouldn't lump all women into one category. That's a feminist move.

this video series is making a lot of claims that I am having trouble finding plausible... particularly that the government was behind it all (along with corporations). they keep saying the government doesn't support the classic family model anymore... and maybe this is specific to the UK government, but in the US, as a single man, I see plenty of support for families whenever I do my taxes and pay ridiculous percentages of my wages because I'm not married with children.

also... angryharry just doesn't seem that angry to me... maybe he should take lessons from the angryatheist... er... amazingatheist...
