the problem with "clares law" is based on the principle that someone can gain access to information denied to the general public on condition that they "significantly involved with them" yet there is no validation or burden of proof to ensure you are entitled to know.

whats to stop anyone walking into a police station claiming to know me and being a single mother or something and wanting to know if there is anything "on the books".

i have nothing to hide, but having seen so many abuses of justice, what is to stop someone who has been alleged to have been a violent person (who isnt) having these details handed to the public under false pretences. this is especially significant when activists try smear campaigns against institutions or people.
