There was a case at Columbia University similar to the Nungesser one. Oliver Jovanovic was wrongfully convicted because the prosecutor convinced the trial judge to deny his constitutional rights to present the exculpatory emails to the jury.

Both are he-said-she-said cases, including emails that are strong evidences (exculpatory in the Jovanovic case) to convince a jury to vote not guilty. Both men were crucified by media early on. In the Jovanovic case, both her grandmother and aunt called her a serial liar.

Dr. Oliver Jovanovic is still at Columbia. He's now an instructor and director of Bioinformatics & Information Technology.

Two prosecutors were sued by Dr. Jovanovic. One is Linda Fairstein, then head of Sex Crimes Unit, now a millionaire by selling crime novels. She allegedly coerced the Central Park Five's confessions. SUNY appointed her special adviser for Sexual Assault Policy at the urging of Andrew Cuomo last Oct. The other is Gail Heatherly, who is now Bureau Chief of Conviction Review Bureau and Senior Counsel to the Criminal Justice Division at NY Attorney General's Office and also Adjunct Professor at both Columbia Law School (no kidding!) and Fordham Law School.

Doesn't the prosecutor have a duty to the service of justice. How good can winning feel when you know it's wrong.
