Holy shit, I cannot wait until I have a child and take my kid to a park, and some harpy feminist mom tries to go all "mother hen" and question me about why im there while I'm minding my own business on the park bench.

I've got a large vocabulary of curse words and a short temper. It's gonna be awesome.

Another example of the feminist double-bind.

"Women are burdened with choosing between having a family and having a career when men aren't."

At the same time, when men try to take on more parenting responsibility, they're treated with suspicion. You won't find a group with a stronger feeling that "child-rearing is the domain of women" than women, ironically enough. And men respond to this kind of pressure.

And this is in addition to the other double-bind -- that men are still expected to be the breadwinners.

I am a single father of two. Last year I took them to a play park and nearly got arrested for "watching the children". I actually had to contact my lawyer from the divorce in order to convince the officer to leave me alone. Ten minutes later another cop was called to the park to speak to the suspicious male watching the children. I eventually gave up. I no longer take my children to any public park without my mother or my sister. Some women shout and scream that all women don't want to my objectified, I like to point out that less than 5% of men worldwide are registered sex offenders.

Liked the article, but I can't help but remember that for me, growing up in the late 70's early 80's that despite having similar family situation as the author, back then, neither my my mother or my father would take me to the park. We would just go on our own. Or, if we were a bit younger, play on our own around the house.

He must have had one of the pioneering helicopter mothers back in the 70's. lol
