Make no mistake, OP's title here is correct - this is an excellent piece of work on the abuse faced by boys, and deserves a place among the MRM references.

But thanking Feminism? Fuck that.

First, the article is hosted on the Canadian Children's Rights Council. Take my word for it, they have no love for Feminists. And you will have no luck finding this resource on any Feminist website.

You can also accept what it is in "The Invisible Boy" (which OP obviously did not read), regarding Feminism:

use expressions such as “male violence,” in spite of the fact that most males are not violent

Who does this sound like?

Patriarchy theory... makes some assumptions about men as a group that, upon close scrutiny, are biased

The embellishment of patriarchy theory evident in the quotation from Hyde is biased in the way it generalizes a negative stereotype of “male sexuality” to all men

Also remember that this work was produced almost twenty years ago. Many, if not most, of the conclusions reached in it are only now reaching the mainstream. And this is thanks to the MRM and the general public's growing concern for issues facing men - NOT to any Feminist group or any of the multiplicity of government funded organizations for women.

Fuck you, OP. Feminism deserves nothing but condemnation for its treatment of domestic violence and abuse facing men.

Actually - the author is the one who sends kudos to the feminist movement. The title of the post in /r/Feminism is just a paraphrase of something I read in the publication:

"In many respects, male victims are where female victims were 25 years ago. Most of us forget the enormous opposition the women’s movement encountered as women began to organize and claim a voice to speak against violence and name their abusers/offenders. The services and supports that exist presently for women were hard won and yet are still constantly at risk of losing their funding. By comparison, there really is no organized male victims "movement” per se. Males, generally, are not socialized to group together the way women do, to be intimate in communication or to see themselves as caregivers for other males."

Interestingly, you'll find that it was upvoted much more in that subreddit than it was in this one. Because of the phrasing of the title, more feminists are going to read this literature and maybe start to see that the problem isn't "male violence" but with "violent people, regardless of gender".

My purpose was to build bridges between gender ideologies, not build walls. If someone is getting hurt and my enemy can help, my pride is not so large that I wouldn't enlist them to do so. The fact remains that feminism brought about social awareness, fund raising, and a system with which advocates of male-victims can take note from.

Do I agree with the feminist ideology? No. But that doesn't stop me from finding common ground and attempting to move forward.

Feel free to fight your war. I'm going to find common ground in the best interest of kids who need help.

You can repeat the justification of your paraphrasing as often as you like; it is still nonsense.

The quote you gave points out the very true perception that men do not share the in-group bias that women have, and thus have a harder time forming any movement for male issues. But some men are breaking ground in these areas only to receive violent opposition from Feminists. It was not traditionalists or any other identifiable group that argues against men's centers on campus, or that rings fire alarms when people gather to talk on men's issues. It is Feminists.

Interesting upvotes? As excellent as it is, this publication is very old and covers topics and facts mentioned every day here in /r/menrights. Feminists massively upvote a title lauding Feminism? Colour me shocked!

No, the comments there are much more interesting. All three of them reject your "paraphrasing". The one who goes to great length to respond, the only one who seems to have read it, makes his criticism clear - it is bad because it does not wholeheartedly endorse Feminist principles.

I do not seek bridges between ideologies - I despise and fight them. I will accept help from the "enemy" if it is real help; CH Sommers may call herself a Feminist and work for the questionable Prager University, but her talks on men and their problems are often spot on.

What I will not accept is any furthering of Feminism in the fields of domestic violence against men. When the government of Ontario offered a pitiful amount of money to establish more help for male victims, who had their hand up first for the new money? The very organizations that rejected men for decades and fought against any diversion of funds from women.

I will continue the war; thanks. And after decades of getting nowhere, I am heartened to see real progress for men finally being made over the rotting corpse of Feminism.
